Fisherman's Daughter Beanie

This Beanie is a quick whip that takes about a day to finish. The cable and skipped stitch gives the beanie a bit of a ropes and lobster trap look. Nothing says Maine more then lobster, and adding a Maine touch to my designs is something I love doing. Both My Dad and Grampy were lobster fisherman who hauled out of Camp Ellis, a small fishing community in Southern Maine. They both lived, and breathed fishing, it was in their blood. Going out to haul lobster traps with the both of them brings back so many found memories. It's a dang dirty job for sure, but I wouldn't trade those hard working times for a thing. The last time I went out lobstering with Dad was summer of 2016, I was 31, and had no idea it would be the last time I was his helper.

It took me back to being a little girl and looking up to him, he was my hero. My Dad was tragically taken from us 4 years ago, by far the hardest thing I had ever experienced. Although the sadness will always remain, I'm so blessed to have had such an amazing dad who taught me so much in life. The memories of him will be cherished the rest of my life.
