Mainely Ridged Crochet Hat

The Mainely Ridged Crochet Hat pattern is beginner friendly and fun to hook. It’s only October so there is plenty of time to whip up a few of these hats just in time for Christmas. Who doesn't love a handmade gift? Last year I made a bunch of these hats but never got to writing down the pattern...I'm not great at putting my designs down on paper. Since I recently shared a version of this hat made to look like a candy corn on Instagram I decided to type up the pattern. Here it is and hope you enjoy.

Materials:

H size crochet hook

Tapestry needle

Yarn: Any medium worsted weight yarn (lately I’ve been using Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek)

Abbreviations:

Ch: Chain

SC: Single Crochet

DC: Double Crochet

HDC: Half Double Crochet

FPDC: Front Post Double Crochet

BPDC: Back Post Double Crochet

Hat Pattern:

Size: Newborn

Round 1: Magic ring, Ch 2, in magic ring 11 DC, join to first DC, Ch 2

Round 2: 2 DC in each stitch around, join, Ch 2 (22 DC)

Round 3: 2 HDC in first stitch, HDC in next, repeat around, join, Ch 1 (33 DC)

Round 4: Working in the 3rd HDC loop with all stitches in this round 2 SC in the first, SC in next 2, repeat around, join, Ch 2 (44 SC)

Round 5: DC around, join, Ch 2 (44 DC)

Faux Fur Pom Pom:

I purchased the fur material at the local Joann’s fabric. I cut out a small round piece, sewed using a whip stitch around the edging, pulled together (not all the way), filled with stuffing, then pulled tight, tied together and knotted. Leave a long tail to sew onto the hat. Simple as that!
