It's November and there is still time to handmake those Christmas gifts. This hat takes me about a day to crochet (while still keeping up with running our house hold.) The sizing starts at 12 months and ends in XL adult. I also start the hat by using a thick ouchless hair elastic (makes for more stretch while pulling hair through the opening.) Here is the free pattern, hope you enjoy.
Materials:
H size crochet hook
Tapestry needle
Yarn: Any medium worsted weight yarn (lately I’ve been using Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek)
Thick ouchless hair elastic
Abbreviations:
Ch: Chain
SC: Single Crochet
DC: Double Crochet
HDC: Half Double Crochet
FPDC: Front Post Double Crochet
BPDC: Back Post Double Crochet
Crab Stitch ( backwards SC) This is optional, on last row of hat I crab stitch around. This makes for a clean looking finish.

Round 1: To start Ch 2 on elastic, 33 DC around, join to first DC, Ch 2 (33 DC)
Round 2: 2 DC in first stitch, DC in next 2 stitches, repeat around, join, Ch 2 (44 DC)
